- Abstract
The literature also mentions that I H. crenulatus i probably would make important prey for aquatic birds (Vega-Aguayo et al., 2018) and participates in the life cycle of acanthocephalan parasites as an intermediate host (Haye & Ojeda, 1998). The Cisnes river flows into the Puerto Cisnes bay, with an average flow of 218 m SP 3 sp /s, forming the estuary of the same name. This would constitute a confirmation of the literature reports that I H. crenulatus i would play a key role as a prey for vertebrate predators such as littoral fishes and aquatic birds (Vega-Aguayo et al., 2018). The crab I Hemigrapsus crenulatus i (H. Milne Edwards, 1837), is a widespread crab in central and southern Chilean Patagonia, and is most abundant in estuaries and protected bays (Vega-Aguayo et al., 2018).
