- Title
Le corps et l'âme. De Donatello à Michel‐Ange. Sculptures Italiennes de la Renaissance.
- Abstract
The ultimate reminder that the Castello Sforzesco lacks an exhibition space commensurate with the prestige of its permanent collection (and its spellbinding 1950s display by BBPR) was made apparent by the missed reunion of the sections of Bambaia's funerary monument to Gaston de Foix that were borrowed for the show (cats. Generally, sculpture exhibitions are much more costly than those dedicated to painting, and less popular: routinely opposed by museum management, they are few and far between. Due to the restraints of the location, many exhibits in Milan had to be moved away from the sections of the exhibition in which they are presented in the catalogue, their numbers on the labels often mismatching those on paper. Different exhibitions call for different kinds of reviews, not least because of their peculiar role as bridges between the exhibition as recorded in a catalogue and the exhibition as experienced in a space.
