- Abstract
A study using Grounded Theory (GT) requires the researcher to know the method and the process as he embarks on a journey through a maze of different theoretical and practical challenges. One of these challenges involves understanding the fundamental principles of the GT which argues that theory emerges from data collected during data analysis and is deeply grounded in them. The moment the data begin to fit in and make sense is often described as magical or as advocated by Anselm Strauss "Eureka momentl". This methodological article intends to present not the results of a course, but the course itself carried out during the research on the Promotion and Preservation of Dignity in the context of care in Nursing Homes, carried out in the scope of the PhD in Nursing of the University of Lisbon, often routed by doubt, concern and restlessness, but also by surprise and enthusiasm. Reflects the journey through the labyrinths of epistemology, ontology, paradigm, methodology, context, data collection and analysis pending the emergence of theory.
