- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on the need of energy for sustainable development. There has been worldwide discussion of the difficulties in reconciling sustainability and development. Development is defined as the progressive transformation of economy and society, and sustainable development as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The Brundtland Commission stated that the relationship of humans to the rest of nature has moved from unrestrained exploitation to limitations for reasons of human self-interest. It is the combination of growing human population and expectation, which increases the pressures on natural resources and total environment. Future development depends on the availability of energy from sources that are safe, dependable, and environmentally sound.
