- Title
Physician Stewardship of Health Care in an Era of Finite Resources.
- Authors
Reuben, David B.; Cassel, Christine K.
- Abstract
The authors propose the physician stewardship of health care in an era of finite health care resources as an alternative approach for containing health care costs. They believe that stewardship can occur at several levels, which are at the national and state policy levels, at the payer of insurance coverage level, at the level of medical practice, at the individual clinician level, and at the patient level. They stress the need to develop coherent approaches to health care issues.
