First-Trimester Determination of Complications of Late Pregnancy.
- Authors
Smith, Gordon C. S.
- Abstract
The author discusses a study on the determination of growth restriction during the first-trimester of pregnancy, by Mook-Kanamori and colleagues, published within the issue. The study found that smaller than expected fetus during the first trimester is associated with preterm birth risk and low-birth weight infant. The author claims that the study, along with other research on first-trimester determination of pregnancy complications, proved that there was a link between fetal growth and first trimester growth and placental function.
