- Abstract
An essay is presented on the political economy of suffrage in St. Louis, Missouri between 1920 and 1928, focusing on gender-based discrimination, the right to vote for women, and the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Efforts to eradicate alcoholism and provide improved working conditions are mentioned, along with information on women's rights activist Carrie Chapman Catt and the St. Louis Equal Suffrage League. The St. Louis League of Women Voters is examined.
