- Authors
Naglik, Julian R.; Richardson, Jonathan P.; Moyes, David L.
- Abstract
The article examines how epithelial tissues detect and restrict Candida albicans to mucosal surfaces. Topics discussed include the C. albicans factors required for mucosal infections, how the fungal pathogen is recognised by epithelial cells, and the pro-inflammatory immune responses induced by epithelial activation by C. albicans hyphae.
