- Title
Astronomy: Planets on the spot.
- Authors
Deming, Drake
- Abstract
The author discusses the article by R. Sanchis-Ojeda and colleagues on the Kepler-30 planetary system. He says that the authors show that host star in Kepler-30 is covered by starspots and is magnetically active and that three of their transiting planets transit similar starspot, repeatedly. He adds that the starspot makes the planetary orbits aligned very closely and with their rotational equator. He notes that the finding suggests more is to learn on planets' formation and orbital evolution.
