- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of sensors for industrial robots. These sensors enable the robots to move autonomously while ensuring the safety of people in their surroundings. The increasing prevalence of robots in the industry leads to a rapid increase in the number of sensors per robot to improve their intelligence and autonomy. Sensors such as cameras, radar, lidar, ultrasound, and GPS/GNSS play an important role in robot navigation and mapping. They also detect collisions and approaches to ensure the safety of human-robot interaction. Different sensors are combined to achieve the best performance. The article also mentions specific sensors such as F/T sensors for collision detection and force measurement in collaborative robots (Cobots), as well as capacitive, piezoresistive, and piezoelectric sensors for handling objects of different textures. Furthermore, various techniques of 3D image processing such as ToF technology, structured light, stereo vision systems, and laser triangulation are mentioned, which allow robots to recognize the properties of objects.
