POLITICAL VIABILITY, MARKET‐BASED STANDARDS, AND CLIMATE POLICY.

- Abstract
The Green New Deal pairs climate policy with other progressive goals, which may enhance political feasibility (or not), but to the extent that it does help, it might also help with respect to carbon pricing's feasibility. Konisky and Carley (2021) provide a compelling argument around the importance of equity and social justice in climate policy. However, the real question is to what extent de-emphasizing or abandoning carbon pricing in the policy package will help, when a central goal is decarbonization.
