A reprint of the article "How to Reduce Sudden Cardiac Death in Patients With Renal Failure," by Mihály K. de Bie, Maurits S. Buiten, Ton J. Rabelink and J. Wouter Jukema, which appeared in the February 2012 issue of "Heart" is presented. Factors that contribute to the development of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in patients with chronic kidney disease are ishemic heart disease, vascular calcification and dialysis treatment. Information on prevention strategies for SCD is provided.
