- Abstract
The article focuses on examining the cytotoxic activity for the colon 29 cell line of matairesinol (Mat 1), oxidized matairesinol, 9,9'-epoxylignan and oxidized 9,9'-epoxylignan. (-)-Mat 1 showed the greatest cytotoxic activity of the lactone-type lignans. The activities of having same steric configurations as (-)-Mat 1 were weaker than that of corresponding Mat 1. Furthermore, different activity levels were observed between enantiomers.
