- Abstract
Multiphase flow play a key role in a variety of technical, industrial and nature systems such as transport processes, segregation, combustion, capilar transport and many others. The numerical simulation in Fluid Mechanics, known as CFD, is nowadays one of the main areas of research around the world. The number of industrial problems approached by CFD increases rapidly due to the constant improvement of computer speed (with prices decreasing simultaneously) and the increase of the cost of experimental tests. In this work the turbulent particle dispersion in an underlying flow is addressed by using numerical simulation. The proposed approach uses an existing computational code in the Fluid Mechanics Research Group of the UAO, which has been extended in order to improve the numerical predictions of the particle phase turbulent properties in two-phase flow laden with solids.
