- Abstract
This article examines some aspects of Law N. 13467/2017, the Brazilian "labor reform" law, focusing on the modality of employment contract termination by "mutual agreement". Based on an analysis of the "reform" assumptions and on data extracted from the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed and the Superior Labor Court reports, the article evaluates the reform's first 16 months of validity, seeking to evidence its impacts and demonstrate how this form of contractual extinction can bring losses to the workers. In general terms, the article analyzes the consequences of this change, bringing to the debate the relevance of having a legal framework with the principle of universality and that contributes to ensure the minimal civilizatory threshold level of rights.
