- Abstract
This study compares the performance of ISO 9000 certified and non-ISO 9000 Turkish firms by using their stock market returns. The study also examines the impact of selected firm characteristics such as firm size, percent of equity traded on the stock market, exports, certifying agency, and the length of time with ISO 9000 certification. The results showed that ISO 9000 firms had higher returns and lower variability of returns than non-ISO firms. Also, the study findings reveal that while firm size had no impact on monthly stock returns, percent of equity traded and exports did have a (positive) significant impact on stock returns. Finally, the certifying agency (Turkish or foreign) and the length of time with ISO 9000 certification have tittle effect on the stock performance.
