- Abstract
France voted in 2011 a law requiring publicly traded companies or firms exceeding certain thresholds to appoint women to their boards. The objective of this article is to better understand the human capital of female and male directors appointed in the context of the new law and to determine whether the recruitment requirements are the same regardless of gender. Our study, involving 112 companies, concludes that the criteria for selecting directors are mostly the same for men and women appointed since the promulgation of the Zimmermann Copé Act.
