- Abstract
The article presents a study that developed nine microsatellite for Octopus mimus, a cephalopod of commercial importance for artisanal fishermen. Samples from Clavelito, a Benthis Resources Management Area in Spain were examined to determine their genetic variation. The study describes all nine loci as highly polymorphic, with the number of alleles per locus ranging from 4 to 28 and the expected heterozygosity ranging from 0.651 to 0.946. It cites the importance of these markers in addressing issues of population genetics, ecology, and conservation and fisheries management.
