- Abstract
The article presents a poetry criticism of the poem "Érec et Énide" by Chrétian de Troyes. It explores the underlying psychological theme in the romantic poem, role of poem's narrative in masculine identity formation of the main character knight Énide and the conception of virtues by the poet. Other topics related to the poem's theme are discussed including models of knightly masculinity in the medieval period, relationship between the lead characters and male sexuality.
