The author discusses aspects of measuring the blood pressure (BP) status of the patients through automated office blood pressure (AOBP) in the systolic blood pressure intervention trial (SPRINT). Topics discussed include the review on the application of electronic oscillometric sphygmomanometers, the advantages of AOBP on improving the accuracy of BP measurement, and the application of the technique in the diagnosis of hypertension.
