- Abstract
The article presents case study of a 27-year-old woman who was diagnosed with striate palmoplantar keratoderma (SPPK) resulting from a missense mutation in Desmoglein-1 (DSG1). It mentions that haematoxylin and eosin staining of a skin biopsy showed hypergranulosis, marked orthohyperkeratosis and widening of the intercellular spaces between keratinocytes. It presents information on importance of the role of DSG1-mediated adhesive function in palmoplantar skin.
