- Abstract
This article reviews theoretical concepts of autoethnography and provides theoretical and methodological tools for the construction of data in authoethnografic research. The article aims to establish a dialogue with different areas of social research in order to help research workers who are interested in carrying out this type of research, mainly those in the field of education. To this end, I contextualize the emergence of authoethnography and present its fundamental principles. Thereafter, I exemplify and discuss methodological procedures for data generation by resorting to my own experience with two autoethnographic studies in a school context (ANDERSON, 2006; BOSSLE; NETO, 2009; ELLIS et al, 2011; JONES et. al., 2013): the first adresses aspects of qualitative interview and the second, interaction in pedagogical meetings.
