- Abstract
The monograph "Polish Troops in the Warsaw Pact" by Jarosław Pałka describes and analyzes the development of the Polish armed forces during the Cold War. The Polish armed forces had the task of protecting Polish territory and participating in possible attacks against NATO. The plans envisioned Polish forces occupying Jutland and the Danish islands in the event of war and advancing along the North German coast. The study is based on extensive archival material from the Polish General Staff and shows that the Polish armed forces were stretched thin and deployed in operationally disadvantageous ways due to limited financial resources. The study provides valuable insight into multinational cooperation within the Warsaw Pact and should be translated into other languages.
