- Abstract
In the book "Mark Jones, 1923. A German Trauma," the author discusses the year 1923 in Germany, which is considered a crisis year and the culmination of a long-lasting crisis-ridden development. The book is divided into twelve chapters, each dedicated to a month of the year and dealing with the acts of violence and conflicts of that time. The author emphasizes the significance of these acts of violence and describes the year 1923 as a "German trauma." Nevertheless, he also emphasizes the resilience and strength of the Weimar Republic as a democracy. The book is mainly based on existing research literature and therefore offers hardly any new insights.
