- Abstract
The article discusses a study in France on the risk factors for the development of desmoid tumors in familial adenomatous polyposis between 1983 and 2004 in 442 patients. Desmoid tumors (DT) are the primary cause of death of patients with familial adenomatous polyposis following restorative proctocolectomy. The researchers found that an identified point mutation in the adenomatous polyposis coli gene after codon 1444 was a significant risk factor.
