- Abstract
The article presents information on the new anti-emetic treatment drug Cerenia for dogs from Pfizer Animal Health. Active ingredient maropitant of the drug acts as a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of substance P, the final chemical trigger in the vomiting pathway. It is reported that the drug is effective at preventing both centrally or peripherally-caused vomiting.
