- Abstract
The article presents a case study of 48-year-old female who was suffering from diabetes mellitus (DM). Proteinuria, pyuria and hematuria were revealed through a urine analysis. She was diagnosed with emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) due to gas in the renal parenchyma and a swollen kidney. She underwent percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) and was treated with blood sugar control and intravenous antibiotics. It states that EPN usually occurs in females who have DM that is poorly controlled.
