- Title
Perceived Articulation Uniformity between Trumpet and Violin Performances.
- Authors
COOPER, SHELLY C.; HAMANN, DONALD L.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on whether a trumpeter could better match the articulation of a violinist, as perceived by participants listening to a recording of two performances, under two conditions. These are when performing the same musical example with the same musical symbol indications as the violinist, or when directed to listen to the violin performance of the musical example and then match the articulation. For some of the bowing strokes, the trumpeter's modified syllable had a marked effect on the participants' choice of the best match.
