- Abstract
The article examines whether there is a rising prevalence in food allergy and why avoidance of allergenic foods in the first year of life is no longer advisable. According to the author, the world has experienced an epidemic of allergic disease since the 1980s. The author notes that an estimated 10-15 percent of the world population report symptoms of food allergy, particularly in infants and young children.
