- Abstract
The research aims to unravel the impacts of the lack of basic sanitation on women's health in their daily lives and to verify the temporal distribution of waterborne diseases reported in the referral services of Arcoverde, Pernambuco, in the period from 2015 to 2021 seeking to characterize the female population profile. To achieve this aim, we developed quantitative, bibliographic and exploratory research. From 2015 to 2021, 1,118 notifications related to inadequate environmental sanitation in Arcoverde were reported. Out of those, 52.68% (589) were women, mostly between 0 and 4 years old (30.82%), 243 individuals (46%) were selfdeclared as mixedrace (pardos), 48 (9%) white and 18 (4%) black. We concluded that the absence of sanitation solutions compromises, above all, the lives of women, whose daily tasks are related to sanitation, but at the same time they have little participation in the decisionmaking regarding these issues.
