- Abstract
This document is a compilation of various research articles related to the periodontal health of individuals with diabetes, specifically type 1 diabetes. The articles discuss the association between diabetes and periodontal status, the impact of periodontal inflammation on type 1 diabetes in childhood and adolescence, gingival crevicular fluid biomarkers in type 1 diabetes, and the levels of interleukin-18 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in type 1 diabetic children with gingivitis. Other topics covered include the effect of chlorhexidine/thymol and fluoride varnish on caries development, differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus-associated periodontitis, and the evaluation of cystatin C, IL-1beta, and TNF-alpha levels in children. The articles provide valuable insights into the relationship between diabetes and oral health, particularly in children and adolescents. The article titled "Premature exfoliation of teeth in childhood and adolescence" explores the phenomenon of premature tooth loss in young individuals. The author, J.K. Hartsfield Jr., discusses the causes, prevalence, and potential consequences of this condition. The article provides valuable insights for researchers and healthcare professionals interested in pediatric dentistry.
