- Abstract
The influence of solar activity on the psychological state has been studied earlier by certain authors. However, (a) the amount of data was very small and they were distributed over an extremely small period (durations were couple of months or a year) compared to the length of the solar activity cycle (~11 years), (b) data were localized in a very small area (most often it was one hospital), and (c) data were obtained from the observations of either one person or a small group (up to 100 people). In particular, a noticeable effect of the change in the sign of the horizontal and vertical components of the magnetic field on the nervous system condition and on the increase in extreme manifestations of individual medical indicators has been demonstrated; however, for the reasons listed above, these results are not convincing enough. In the present work, an attempt is made to investigate this problem by analyzing large volumes of spatially separated (by thousands of kilometers) data obtained over 17 years from several hundred thousand people. Namely, messages from the largest scientific forum are analyzed for a connection between solar X-ray flares and the psychological state of the authors when they wrote them. It is shown that the effect manifests itself at the population level and has a very pronounced character.
