- Abstract
Reports the results of tests of a unimodal relationship generated by global disturbances using both isogenic and diverse populations of the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens. Relation to the intermediate disturbance hypothesis; Role of competition among niche-specialist genotypes, which maintains diversity at intermediate rather than high or low disturbance; Conclusion that disturbance can modulate the effect of spatial heterogeneity on biological diversity in natural environments.
