- Abstract
Reports findings that the optical spectra and the light curve of supernova SN1998bw can be reproduced by an explosion of a star composed mainly of carbon and oxygen. Qualification of supernova as `hypernova' because of high luminosity; Possible association of the hypernova with the gamma ray burst GRB 980425; Explosion mechanism of very massive stars reconsidered; Origin of some classes of gamma ray bursts freshly examined.
