- Abstract
This article proposes a comprehensive mucocutaneous activity index for Behçet's disease, a multi-system disorder that causes various symptoms including oral and genital ulcers, skin lesions, and uveitis. Currently, there are no specific markers to evaluate disease activity or standardized indices to monitor mucocutaneous manifestations. The proposed index consists of five elements and is based on the count and size of lesions over a four-week period. The authors conducted a study with nine patients and found positive correlations between the index score and pain levels, as well as the number and size of oral ulcers. The index could potentially aid in treatment decision-making and evaluating therapeutic efficacy. The authors are currently validating the index in a larger study using the Japanese Behçet's disease registry.
