- Title
ACCOUNTING EXEC: 'IMPROVE CHINESE ACCOUNTING RANKS'
- Authors
Chipman, Stephen M.
- Abstract
The article describes the efforts of U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to encourage China to boost reforms to capital and financial markets. Paulson made mention of independent financial information and sound accounting standards but did not assert that they were keystones of practice. In order for China to implement recommendations, it would have to expedite accounting reform policies and lift restrictive regulations that allow for development of accounting. Paulson is expected to make recommendations at the U.S. - China Strategic Economic Summit.
