- Abstract
The article presents a study on the changes in glucose and insulin responses and blood biochemical values to intravenous glucose tolerance tests (IVGTT) in Japanese black bears during the active season from August to early November. The study involves four adult black bears which were injected intravenously with glucose and blood samples were obtained. The result shows that the bears change their glucose and lipid metabolism from the stage of normal activity to the hyperphagic stage.
