- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of atypical antipsychotics in children and adolescents suffering from schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Early-onset schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (EOSS) have been associated with high levels of anxiety, depression and social deficits. The atypical antipsychotics prescribed to patients possess lower affinity with regards to dopamine DH2 receptors, but with higher affinity for neuroreceptors, such as norepinephrine and serotonin. Pathogenis for EOSS is described.
