- Abstract
The article offers information on the basic concept of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) in Spain. It states that CVID is the most prevalent symptomatic primary antibody deficiency and is characterized by hypogamaglobulinemia, which leads to chronic and recurrent infections in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. It notes that the rare complication of CVID is the secondary amyloidosis, which is the extracellular tissue deposition of serum amyloid A (SAA) protein fibrils.
