- Abstract
The article discusses a study related to evaluation of the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the scalp using HPV amplification and detection methods. Topics discussed include aetiological correlation between HPV types such as HPV-16 and HPV-18 with types of anogenital carcinoma, cervical cancer and oropharyngeal papillomatosis, frequent ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure and sunburns due to tanning, and increased risk of premalignant lesion.
