- Abstract
The article explores the causes of lymphoedema and the two types of compression used as part of treatment, and discusses the importance of multidisciplinary care for patients with this disease. Lymphoedema is a type of chronic oedema marked by an accumulation of fluid and tissue elements. The condition can be caused by a congenital abnormality of the lymphatic system or as a result of damage to the lymphatic system known as secondary lymphoedema. Its treatment includes skin care and exercise.
