- Title
Hernando de Talavera on Conduct: Cultural Hegemony in Post-Conquest Granada.
- Authors
Johnston, Mark D.
- Abstract
An essay is presented about the scholarly works of Hernando de Talavera, a spiritual author of the fifteenth century and vernacular prose author of the Spanish pre-Renaissance. It examines the contribution of Talavera's three works to the medieval European corpus of moral and ethical literature. It proposes to understand the value of Talavera's works as theoretical justifications for the forced assimilation of Muslim Granada following its annexation to Castile in 1492.
