- Abstract
The article presents information about a study to determine whether the training in non-identification and general semantics to teacher students help them function more effectively in groups. The subjects of this study were 200 junior level students at Arizona State University. All of them working toward a teaching credential. Students who had taken basic education courses at Arizona State University in which they were trained in non-identification and general semantics were identified. Their names were entered in the instructor's gradebook on a page marked "with." The certification route students and transfer students were entered on the page marked "without." These two groups were further subdivided into male-female categories and elementary-secondary categories. There were no appreciable differences between these categories. The results of the study showed that students who had training in non-identification and general semantics scored significantly higher in the final content examination than did students who had not had such training.
