- Abstract
The article presents information on several new developments in the field of English literature. Andrew G. Watson, the literary executor of Neil Ripley Ker, has edited the Supplement to the Second Edition of N. R. Ker's "Medieval Libraries of Great Britain: A List of Surviving Books," on which Ker was working at the time of his premature death in 1982. The main work is in the hands of all scholars interested in medieval Britain, and this Supplement is indispensable. Malvern van Wyk Smith's new anthology "Shades of Adamastor" marks the quincentenary of the rounding of cape of Africa by the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu in 1488 with a fascinating collection of poems from the 1570s to the present day.
