- Abstract
A identificação de genes candidatos associados a características relacionadas ao desempenho em equinos é uma ferramenta importante para auxiliar na seleção de animais de alta performance. Deste modo, objetivouse destacar genes candidatos que podem ter relação com o desempenho atlético em equinos por meio da construção de uma rede gene-processos biológicos. Foram utilizadas informações gênicas identificadas por um estudo de GWAS previamente selecionado a partir de uma revisão sistemática. Neste estudo selecionado, foram utilizados 112 cavalos da raça Quarto de Milha, da linhagem de corrida, genotipados (amostras de sangue) a fim de identificar SNPs associados com o índice de velocidade. Com base nessas informações, foram anotados os possíveis genes candidatos e sua posição (bp) nos respectivos cromossomos. Os genes mapeados nas regiões flanqueadoras, janelas ou em torno dos marcadores associados descritos no trabalho foram anotados por meio do banco de dados GenBank do NCBI, baseados na versão do genoma equino EquCab 2.0. Os genes previamente identificados foram utilizados para construção de uma rede gene-processos biológicos por meio do aplicativo ClueGo do programa Cytoscape, baseado em um teste hipergeométrico bilateral e correção de Bonferroni. A partir da análise da rede gene-processos biológicos, destacam-se os genes GRM8 e GRIK2, ambos relacionados com a via de sinalização do receptor de glutamato, sendo o GRM8 do grupo dos receptores metabotrópicos e o GRIK2 do grupo dos receptores ionotrópicos de glutamato. Ambos os receptores são ativados pelo L-glutamato, que é o principal neurotransmissor excitatório do sistema nervoso central. Logo, os receptores de glutamato medem a maioria da neurotransmissão excitatória no cérebro de mamíferos. O glutamato, por sua vez, está envolvido no desenvolvimento neural, plasticidade sináptica, memória e aprendizado. No cavalo, os processos comportamentais e de aprendizagem podem influenciar diretamente o desempenho dos animais, uma vez que as atividades atléticas realizadas pelos cavalos requerem treinamento especializado e boa capacidade de aprendizado dos animais para que sejam realizadas de maneira coordenada e com êxito. Uma vez que a capacidade de aprender comandos e realizar determinadas atividades pode ser relacionada com o desempenho dos animais nas diversas modalidades equestres, sugerese que ambos os genes desempenham um papel fundamental no desempenho dos cavalos, uma vez que estão envolvidos com o processo de aprendizagem e comportamento destes animais. Todavia o desempenho é uma característica influenciada por um grande número de genes, mas tem sido pouco estudado no âmbito da genética molecular, de modo que até o momento poucos genes foram identificados, o que elucida a necessidade de mais estudos.
