- Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to examine the predictive effect of adolescents' personality traits on predicting their aggression levels. A total of 1235 students studying at different types of high schools participated in the study. To collect datas, The Quick Big Five Personality Test and the Aggression Scale were used. The research method was examined with the relational screening model. In the data analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. According to the findings, there were significant relationships between the personality traits of students and their aggression behavior and the physical, verbal, hostility and anger sub-dimensions of aggression. Agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability traits are negatively related to aggression. Extraversion is positively related to aggression. Finally, in the regression analysis, the personality traits of students' agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and extraversion significantly predicted aggression. Especially, personality traits are important predictive variable to understand aggressive behaviors but, it is suggested to examine variables such as temperament, character and value in future studies. Knowing the effects of individual factors on aggressive behavior will shed light on the preventive services offered in mental health in preventing aggression.
