- Abstract
The fire is a worrisome phenomenon, mainly for metallic structures, being necessary the analysis of the stability before its occurrence. The current regulations induce a prescriptive verification of structures in a fire situation and the market encourages the simplified use of pre-defined tables, which induces a conservative design of the protection. In this way, the objective of this study was to perform a comparative analysis between different calculation methods in a fire situation. In the light of the above, he carried out the verification of the dimensioning of a building in a metal structure submitted to a fire situation, using the simplified formulations of ABNT NBR 14323: 2013 and with advanced MEF (Finite Element Method) engineering methods, based on the curves of fire standard ISO 834 and natural fire. In addition, a dimensioning of the passive protection thickness was carried out using cover letters. Once these steps have been completed, the protection costs can be compared for each method analyzed.
