- Abstract
In recent years, gas diffusion electrodes (GDE) have gained much attention in improving the efficiency of electrochemical synthesis of H2O2 as they allow oxygen/air to be supplied to the cathode surface from outside without dissolving in the electrolyte. In this paper, mesoporous carbon was used as the catalytic layer material and purchased commercial carbon black and graphite were used as the diffusion layer materials to prepare the electrodes, respectively. From the amount of H2O2 produced and the current efficiency, it can be seen that when the catalytic layer is mesoporous carbon and the ratio with PTFE emulsion is 2:1, and the diffusion layer is carbon black and the ratio with PTFE emulsion is 1:3, at a drumming rate of 18 L/h, an electrolyte of Na2SO4 solution with a concentration of 0.5 mol/L, a current density of 10 mA/cm² and an initial pH value of 11.0, it can efficiently produce H2O2 production as 47 mmol/L for 60 min. The air diffusion electrode was also able to maintain good H2O2 production after several uses.
