- Abstract
To enrich the dust removal mechanism of ESPs, Fluent software was used to simulate the mathematical model. The influences of electric field, gas flow and particle motion in the ESP on collection efficiency were studied in detail. Considering the corona discharge, the effect of EHD flow on the flow characteristics was studied. The simulation results showed that a corona region was formed near the discharge wire, while a cross-linked equipotential field was formed between the wires. The electric field intensity between the cathode wires decreased rapidly, and it was almost zero at the midpoint of the line. EHD flow changed fluid turbulent motion at low gas velocity. When the gas velocity increased to 1 m/s, the influence of EHD flow could be ignored. Under the influence of turbulent diffusion, dust movement distance was increased with a severe turbulence. The lower the gas velocity was, the larger the particle size was, and the higher the applied voltage was, the dust removal efficiency would be higher. The maximum collection efficiency was 99.4% for the particle size of 6.9 μm.
