- Abstract
A recent case series evaluated a potential link between paracetamol use during pregnancy and premature constriction or closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus (Allegaert et al. I Br J Clin Pharmacol i 2019;85:245-51). Dathe et al. performed a cohort analysis with prospectively enrolled patients comparing first and second trimester paracetamol exposure to third trimester exposure. It is possible that there is a non-negligible risk for specific subpopulations including women who received relatively high doses of acetaminophen for prolonged periods during the third trimester.
